This provides initial information you need for the fall season:
Shin Guards: The NHSF requirement for approved shin guards starts this fall. All fall schools except Potomac, Madeira, Flint Hill, St Stephens/Agnes, and Episcopal follow VHSL/NHSF rules, with minor exception. Pete asks that you use common sense and work with coaches on any issues. We understand that manufacturers are making the stamped shin guards on the small side, length-wise, and that the approved guards will not allow both a "two-inch" gap above to the knee and a "two-inch" gap below to the ankle. Concerning the WCAC specifically (Ireton, O’Connell, Paul VI), Pete has met with the coaches and has told them we will not be "shin guard police."
Game assignments: Given the number of officials signed up and the limited number of games, you will not have a heavy schedule this fall. I will attempt to spread available games out equitably without causing anyone to drive a great distance.
Rules: Always check with the coaches before each match to verify what rules are in effect, especially when the teams are from different conferences. The worst case will be when a WCAC team plays one of the schools following USSF rules. If OT is played, do not go to PK for any regular season game. Pete’s guidance is to always follow high school procedures, if feasible. If there are unusual or changed circumstances for a specific game I will attach a note to the game in arbiter.

Game Reports.: Arbiter and CSOA game reports are required for all games. In arbiter, please do not include any comments, just report the score and verify that the officials were there. Save your remarks for the CSOA game report. CSOA policy is that game reports be filed the day of the match, if possible, but not later than first thing next morning. Ejection reports are required the day of the match.
