Effective school year 2013-2014, VHSL created a new Regional structure and Regions 6A South and 5A South were created.
Effective school year 2013-2014, the Northwest Region was disbanded in favor of the state realignment from three levels of competition--AAA, AA, A--to an expanded six tier structure. Region schools were reallocated to new Regions 6A North, 6A South, 5A North, and 5A South, based on school enrollment.
CSOA provides officials for five schools in Region 5A South. All are in a new grouping, Conference 15, which includes one school, Massaponax, for which CSOA does not provide officials. CSOA member schools include Brooke Point, Freedom Woodbridge, Mountain View, North Stafford and Potomac.
CSOA provides officials for six schools in Region 6A South. All are in a new grouping, Conference 4, which includes one school, Riverbend, for which CSOA does not provide officials. CSOA member schools include Colonial Forge, Forest Park, Gar-Field, Hylton, Stafford, and Woodbridge.
For regular season competition the old District alignment has been retained, but modified. Cedar Run and Cardinal have been combined to allow Prince William County competition among all 11 high schools in the County. Commonwealth Distict has been reduced in size but still lists the 5 Stafford County high schools as members.
CSOA provides officials for both Cardinal, and Commonwealth (Stafford County only). In PW Counity, Patriot and Potomac, have turf fields. In Stafford County, Brooke Point, Mountain View, and Stafford have turf fields.
